Urban monographs
From mint media
I've started to do some visual research for a new screenprint poster design. My idea was to create some kind of monoprint that had a dark, dirty and imposing feeling. In the brilliant David Lynch/Terry Zwigoff documentary Crumb, Robert Crumb talks about his source material. In his case it was a collection of back and white photographs of urban american street corners.
My idea was to collect my own urban artifacts. Each picture shows a small part of the Mt Eden Bowling Club. Crumb remarks that these things are not designed, or placed in any organised way, but are simply a build up of the modern industrialised society, elements that are largely absent from your concious vision.
